ACLU Sues Over Medical Records Seizure

The American Civil Liberties of Alaska says a lawsuit it filed in Ketchikan could set new standards for medical privacy in Alaska. The group is suing the state to recover about four hundred records seized from a women’s health center during a criminal investigation. It says local police later revealed personal medical information. Police deny that’s the case.  Continue reading

Ted Stevens Remembers Robert Byrd

Alaska’s former Senator Ted Stevens is reflecting on the life of his long time colleague Senator Robert Byrd today.  Byrd died this morning at the age of 92 after serving West Virginia in the Senate for more than 5 decades.  Four of them were spent serving along-side and sparring with the 86-year old Stevens.  Continue reading

Correcting An Error: Previous Headline

An early version of the previous story had an incorrect headline.  For this I apologize.  The current headline was substituted shortly after the original, incorrect  publication.  The reporter who covered the story had no input whatsoever in either version.

Bruce Weyrauch’s legal proceedings were halted early in the case  so the charges against him could be considered by the Appellate Courts.  The Supreme Court decision reflects the result of that appeal.

Again, the error was mine alone, and I apologize.

Weyhrauch Case Going Back to Court — U-S Supreme Court Finds Fault With Government Charges
